Critical to the life expectancy of the reclaimer chain and rake conveyor chain is the lubrication of the chain and the coating of the associated track components. When newly installed these large dimension engineered chains require bathing and quenching at the start of operations. Depending on the size of the conveyor (scraper) and the dimension of the chain link (either 9” or 12”) this will require 40 to 100 gallons of SAE 30 weight oil. This application will assist the chain in becoming a capillary for distribution of the oil on all the track parts providing a sliding surface and impact protection where this film of oil is placed. After the initial oil bath a simple gravity drip system will maintain the lubrication for semi annual or annual re-bathing.
Re-bathing should occur semi annually for fine dust environments such as bark and coal, and annually for coarse dust environments such as woodchips. Contact BRUKS Rockwood Aftermarket Sales and Service for more detailed instructions.
